I really don't want to sound like some pedantic nitpicker, but since you were the second Disney news source that I consumed within a week that discussed the diet of the purple martin, I feel compelled to do my part to set the record straight. Disney historian Jim Korkis cites someone he refers to as a "zoological manager" in Disney's Animal Kingdom describing the use of purple martins to control mosquitoes as a "popular myth." Korkis tells the full story of why he was writing about these birds in the first place in far greater and more interesting detail than I care to share, but at the chapter titled "Disney Brand vs Disney Business" in his recent book, "How to be a Disney Historian," then you can, if you wish, learn more about this topic.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure this is worthy of reporting as an official "correction" on your show, since I've now already spent more time considering the eating habits of a bird than I need to, but I feel I've now done my civic duty by passing this knowledge along. You have a great show and I don't want you to be accused of sharing fake news.
